Instead of just posting a foto of that board, here are some photographs of several tejedoras- some of whom made lace for their families, others who sold lace they made to a shop or who had a shop themselves. Included among the names are family members and persons who made lace. In the Museo del Mundillo Puertorriqueno on Calle Barbosa in Moca, there is a memorial board, on which the names and dates of mundillistas who have passed are put on small plates that are affixed to a dark wood panel. Others are younger artisans who have an entire career of making and teaching before them. ![]() There is something very tactile, very intense about making mundillo- the skill that makes the sounds of wood bobbins rhythmically ring, the amazement in seeing someone work on a large pattern with hundreds of pins and bobbins. She also donated some of her work, a dress decorated with mundillo to the Museo Labadie in Aceitunas, known as the Palacete de los Moreau, named after the hacienda featured in Enrique Laguerre’s 1939 novel, La llamarada. She showed me her mundillo, made sometime in the 1940s, filled with dried banana leaves wrapped around a wooden core beneath the fabric that held the pins for making lace. Recently, a lot of businesses have been moving people over to Chromebooks specifically designed for enterprise. The list includes USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, a headphone jack, and a full-size SD-card reader. There is no pen support, however, which is a miss.įinally, it has a wide range of ports and a volume slider on the side of the device. All of this can be done with confidence, too, as the device is rated for up to 10 hours of battery and has a low-powered 1366 x 768 resolution display. The Chromebook can also be used in laptop, tablet, tent, or stand modes to make collaboration simple. There's also a front-facing 720p webcam and two speakers, which are decent enough for chatting in Google Hangouts and paying attention to recorded lectures. The keyboard is also excellent, especially with its numpad, which helps make crunching numbers in Google Sheets easy. The storage might be the slower eMMC type, but on ChromeOS, many files are stored in the cloud, so this should not be a big issue. This is true even with this low amount of RAM since ChromeOS is efficient. It’s also very pricey for a Chromebook at $1,000, and its battery life is decent, but not superb at 10 hours and 18 minutes.Coming with an Intel Celeron N4500 CPU and 4GB of RAM, you can speed through a lot of your basic workflows with ease. If the company goes under or stops supporting this model, then it’s just like any other Chromebook-when it breaks or its support runs out in June 2030, you’ll have to replace the whole thing. But this promise depends on Framework continuing to exist and supply parts for this Chromebook. You’ll be able to add more storage and memory, replace your battery, extend your ChromeOS support date by upgrading your mainboard with a new processor, or repair anything else if it breaks. Framework includes a screwdriver and handy QR codes by each internal part that direct you to step-by-step replacement guides with links to the exact parts you’ll need. Just like its Windows counterpart-which received a 10 out of 10 repairability score from iFixit and which we recommend in our Windows ultrabook guide-you can easily replace and upgrade the Framework Chromebook’s individual parts. If you want a repairable Chromebook: The Framework Laptop Chromebook Edition is what you’ve been waiting for. You can also turn an old Windows or Mac computer into a Chromebook, if you have an aging system lying around. If you can’t find a new Chromebook anywhere, consider a used Chromebook-but double-check the official end-of-support date before you buy. It can be difficult to find a decent Chromebook in stock during the back-to-school shopping season. If the C536 is unavailable, the virtually identical Asus Chromebook Flip CM5 (CM5500FDA-DN344T) is another great option. We don’t recommend this 4.3-pound laptop if you need to take yours to work, class, or even a coffee shop-it’s best used around the house. Its 15.6-inch touchscreen provides more room to do work or enjoy media, but it also makes the laptop bulkier. In the past decade, Murakami's curatorship expanded to include Kazunori Hamana, Yuji Uedaa, and Otani Workshop at Blum & Poe, New York (2016) and Juxtapox x Superflat at Vancouver Art Gallery (2016). These helped introduce Japan's lesser-known creative culture overseas and such curatorial projects would become an integral part of Murakami's multifaceted artistic practice. The theory provided the context for his work and he elaborated on it with the exhibitions "Coloriage" (2002, Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, Paris) and " Little Boy: The Arts of Japan's Exploding Subculture" (2005, Japan Society, New York), which was named after Little Boy. Superflat also served as a commentary on postwar Japanese society in which, Murakami argues, differences in social class and popular taste have 'flattened,' producing a culture with little distinction between 'high' and 'low'. This style differentiates itself from the western approach in its emphasis on surface and use of flat planes of color. The theory posits that there is a legacy of flat, 2-dimensional imagery from Japanese art history in manga and anime. In 2000, Murakami published his " Superflat" theory in the catalogue for a group exhibition of the same name that he curated for the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.
